Mat Grogan was born in Dublin in 1947. Having spent most of his working life in advertising, Mat began painting in the mid eighties while living in Australia. As a member of the Wildlife Astists Society of Australia, he exhibited widely over the next decade or so, winning several awards. His return to Ireland in 1997 prompted a change of career from advertising to painting and from wildlife to still life. Much of what Mat produces is informed by the works of Chardin and Vermeer, modified by a continuing drift to impressionism. His work is represented in private collections in the USA, Hong Kong, Australia, Britain and Ireland.
