  • artist: Susan Cairns
  • title: Peaches and Plums
  • Year: 2014
  • medium: Taking the old, broken, unwanted and often forgotten everyday objects, my ambition through still life painting is to capture character and beauty, transforming the usual into something unique and wonderful.

With many years spent drawing and watercolour painting my current work in oils has evolved and developed into a style that is very identifiable, clear and detailed. Exploring light, colour, texture and tone is an essential part of my painting. Through my work I want the simple things to stand out, the not-so-pretty to be beautiful and everyday objects to shine."

Born In Ireland (1979) Susan has grown up and still resides in Malahide, Co. Dublin. Achieving a NCVA Certificate in Art and Design and a Diploma in Interior Architecture and Design, her love of drawing and painting was always apparent.

Susan started painting in watercolour from 2002. After several years she changed direction to oil painting specialising in still life constantly continuing to master her craft.

She has exhibited throughout Dublin and Ireland, proving to be very popular with many paintings to date in private collections worldwide.
